INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS OFFICE

The necessity of exchanging information and of cooperation among international agencies grows with market globalization. Such interchange derives from recommendations pointed out on numerous official reports and documents.
Competence:
The competence of the International Affairs Office consists of:
- Management of the execution of several Agreements of Technical Cooperation and Exchange of Information - MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) - signed by the CVM and the other commissions with the objective of strengthening mutual cooperation and supervising;
- Representation of the CVM before the international institutions related to the regulating agencies or other operating organisms in the securities area, coordinating the execution of works if necessary.
Activities:
In a general way, the activities of the International Affairs Office can be divided as the following:
- Multilateral Relations:
- Organisms congregating securities regulators: International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), Council of Securities Regulators of the Americas (COSRA), Iberoamerican Institute of Securities Regulators (IIMV), Boca Ratón Declaration, Enlarged Contact Group on the Supervision of Investment Funds (ECG), International Forum of Independent Audit Regulators (IFIAR);
- Processes of economic integration: The Common Market of the South (MERCOSUL), Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA), World Trade Organization (WTO), Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD);
- The United Nations (UN);
- Inter-American Development Bank (IDB);
- International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank;
- Hague Conference and Unidroit;
- Financial Action Task Force – FATF.
- Bilateral Relations:
- Agreements of Technical Cooperation and Exchange of Information - MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) - Memoranda of Agreement;
- Bilateral relations with securities regulators abroad.
- Information Diffusion:
- Attendance of foreign natural and legal persons;
- Maintenance of International Affairs section on the CVM homepage;
- Training;
- Relations with the Ministry of External Relations.
